Replacement Refractory Panels

Fireplaces and smoke chambers are exposed to hot and sometimes moist conditions. This can break down the mortar and lead to erosion of the joints. Other damage can occur when wood is tossed haphazardly into the fireplace cracking joints or damaging the panels in a factory-built fireplace. We offer a variety of  fireplace repair products starting from minor mortar joint repairs to rebuilding the smoke chamber.

Pre-mixed mortars are great for general firebox repairs. These mortars are an air-dry and heat-cure mortar with an application thickness of ⅛" to ¼". If it’s too thick, the mortar will bubble or crack. We offer the following fine products: Heat Stop® Refractory, Domestic Fireplace Mortar and Rutland® Fireplace Mortar.

Dry mix mortars can be used for firebox repairs or laying flue tiles. They are a chemical set type of mortar and meet the NFPA 211 standard for the requirement of a non-water soluble mortar. We feature the Heat Stop II® Refractory Cement and the Rutland 211® mortars.

Smoke chamber repairs require a special type of mortar/insulation mix. In fact, many chimney professionals use these mixes to shape the smoke chamber for a smoother, less turbulent draft flow. We offer two fine products: Chamber-Tech 2000® and Insul Stick®.

Skamolex Vermiculite Replacement Refactory Panels have been tested by Omni Labs for installation as a replacement for refractory panels in factory-built fireplaces. These refractory panels are non-combustible and are easy to cut with standard wood-working tools. Since they are made from vermiculite, they are light to work with and carry superior insulation properties, high mechanical strength and are thermal shock resistant. Featured in a brick or herringbone pattern, these refractory panels will also be aesthetically pleasing in any fireplace.

Fireplace accessories create a more aesthetically appealing fireplace. Adding functional accessories like Gas Logs, Grates, Firebacks, a Millistat Wall Switch and Smoke Guards® make using the fireplace pleasurable.

Rasmussen® Gas Logs are hand-crafted based on original wood patterns. Made of ceramic-bonded refractory material, they withstand heat to over 2500 degrees and include steel rod reinforcement for long log life. We feature three styles of gas log sets. Prestige Oak® contains six gas logs and provides the look of a realistic oak wood fire. Evening Cross-Fire® includes eight gas logs including the bottom log, which is split, and counts for two logs. This split oak design allows for a couple of different settings depending on how the logs are arranged. The Lone Star® includes six gas logs and two pinecones for a realistic wood fire. All sets include all necessary hardware for a quick and simple installation. Safety Pilots and Remote Controls sold separately.

Our Millistat is designed to be used with gas logs allowing the temperature regulation of the logs with a handy easy-to-use wall control.

Black and Brass Smoke Guards® are offered as a cure to smoking fireplaces where the fireplace opening ratio is too large for the flue. They include a tempered stainless steel spring for simple width adjustment.

Fireplace Replacement Screens are simple to install and replace unsightly rusted or damaged fireplace screens.

Therm-Guard is a control that mounts under the thermostat allowing the homeowner to program their circulator or furnace blower to cycle through the night.

We have three styles of Fireplace Grates: Cast-Iron, Steel Bar and Self Feeding.

Firebacks help to protect the back wall of the firebox and also reflect heat back into the room. We feature two styles of cast-iron firebacks: a Ship and Deer. Stainless Steel Firebacks are also available to fit most fireplace sizes.

Our Flamenco® Log Set provides a realistic fire without having to burn wood or gas. It relies on Logset® Gel which is perfect for “no burn” zones or fireplaces where it just isn’t cost effective to fix the flue. Realistic, leaping flames set the scene for a relaxing, romantic mood.

Gas Starter Pipes quickly ignite wood logs for a fast, efficient start. Made of cast-iron, they are available in straight and angled. Replacement Pipes are available. We also feature Straight or Angled Gas Valves.

Thermometers are integral to the operation of a woodstove. Burning a woodstove without a thermometer is like driving your car with no speedometer. It’s hard to know precisely how well the fire is burning. We feature three thermometers. The Chim-Guard® Surface Thermometer is magnetic and sticks to either stovepipe or the stove top. Accuracy is within 5%. For accurate flue gas temperatures, the Flue Gas Probe Thermometer provides a way for to tell how to adjust the fire for a more efficient burn. Catalytic Thermometers are used with catalytic stoves and helps to monitor when the catalytic unit should be engaged and when temperatures are too cool.

Therm-Guard® is a control that mounts under the thermostat allowing the homeowner to program their circulator or furnace blower to cycle through the night.

Stoveboards are necessary for floor protection with any woodstove and other types of hearth appliances. Our Stoveboards can also be used as a wall protection board when the wall spacer kit is used.

Kettles are an aesthetically pleasing accessory and provide needed humidity. We feature four 2 ½ quart Enameled Cast-Iron Kettle colors: Black, Hunter Green, Brown and White, and Blue and White. Our Matte Black Cast-Iron Kettle is the most economical choice and is available in 1½ and 2½ quart sizes. Our Aluminum Half Kettles are designed to sit on the front of an insert, yet still hold over 2 quarts of water. Featured in classic black or polished silver finish, each is attractively packed in a sturdy gift box.

Stove Scent™s may be used with any of our fine kettles. ScentStones™ are designed to be used with gas, oil or pellet stoves.

The Draw Collar pre-warms the flue, overcoming cold hearth syndrome to establish an updraft and eliminate start-up smoking. Within minutes it warms to 450 degrees F changing the cold down-draft into a warm up-draft, establishing draft. It has a 7' high temperature electrical cord.

High-Temp Chimney Paint dresses up class-A pipe providing a matte black finish with no prep or primer.

Soot Eraser is a necessity for any woodburning system. It removes soot, smoke residue, flash and dirt from surfaces.

Fireplace and Chimney Deodorants eliminate odors. Magic Scent® is easy and safe to use spray that’s biodegradable, phosphate –free and non-toxic. Fireplace Deodorant is set in the firebox or smoke shelf with the wick raised and lasts 30-9- days.

Firestarters take the stress out of starting a fire. Our Firestarter Blocks light easily and burn 8-12 minutes, even when wet. They are for use with charcoal grills, fireplaces, campfires, wood and pellet stoves. Our Gelled Fire Starter is an alcohol based gel perfect for old style pellet stoves or wood fires.

Chimney Maintenance and Creosote Remover Chemicals make dealing with build-up a lot easier. They work through the principal of using a catalyst that breaks down creosote to make it brushable. Stage 1® Remover is a granular powder for use in pre-fab chimneys, woodburning stoves, fireplaces, furnaces and boilers. It can be used to loosen up creosote as well as part of an on-going maintenance type product. Stage 2® and ACS® (Anti-Creosote) are both spray-on chemicals that are used as creosote removers as well as part of a maintenance program. Cre-Away® is a four component powder that safely modifies glazed or third degree creosote so it can be more easily removed by sweeping. It literally modified third degree creosote by converting it to a more brittle state that has different expansion and contraction rates than the flue, causing the creosote to loosen.

Cleanout doors are a very important part of any masonry chimney. We carry a variety of door sizes for most applications. Our Cast Aluminum Clean-Out Door is our most popular door. Ahrens® Masonry Clean-Out Door can set and mortared right into the masonry chimney. The Galvanized Clean-Out Door provides access for cleaning at an economy price. Our Stainless Steel Clean-Out/Access Doors serve a dual purpose. They may be used as either clean-out doors or access doors.

The Air Share Room to Room Vent heat distribution system simply uses the wall cavity as a duct. A whisper quite fan moves air from one room to another. Available as a hard wired or plug in unit.

Condair® Air Supply Ventilators solve most negative pressure situations. It’s made of tough paintable plastic and requires no electricity to operate. It requires a 4” hole.

The Hearth Country™ Ash Vacuum features a dust-free HEPA filtration system that makes it easy for cleaning up both in and around your pellet stove, wood stove, or fireplace. The Hearth Country™ Ash Vacuum Replacement Filter is also available.

FireEx, “The Fireman’s Friend”, Chimney Fire Suppressor helps smother flames quickly during a chimney fire. This is the same type of chimney fire extinguisher used by professional fire fighters. It will assist in helping to control the flames and heat build-up until the fire department arrives.
