Company History
Lindemann Chimney Service was started in 1975 after Gary Lindemann discovered the need for cleaning chimneys while working as a fireman for the Winnetka, IL Fire Department. On his off days, Gary cleaned chimneys for residents in the Winnetka and surrounding communities. The chimney cleaning industry in the United States was in its infancy stage and nearly unrecognized as a much needed legitimate business practice.
As the industry grew, Gary continued to educate himself as well as his customers on the importance of chimney safety. This factor, coupled with outstanding customer service, led to quick growth and a viable business opportunity for Gary. In August of 1985, Gary incorporated the business and his wife Lolly dedicated her time to working in the business from their home office.
At the end of 1989, Gary retired from the fire department which allowed him to work full-time in his chimney business.
Lindemann Chimney Service’s future growth was powered by a few honest, hard-working, educated, and service-minded employees who shared Gary’s vision of treating each customer’s home and chimney as if it was their own.
As the business grew, Lindemann Chimney Service began buying supplies in larger quantities to obtain greater discounts. At the same time, more local chimney service companies came into business. An opportunity to buy products in volume and sell them to local wholesale customers arose.
In 1989, Lindemann Chimney Supply was created to pursue this opportunity and a few years later the company moved to its present location in Lake Bluff, Illinois. Tim Freberg headed the Lake Bluff warehouse. Over the next ten years the supply division grew from a card table, telephone, and a few stacks of boxes to a highly organized distribution center that supplies chimney products to hundreds of customers not only in the Midwest, but the entire country.
In 1998, Lindemann Chimney Supply opened a warehouse in Albany, New York. Industry veteran, Chuck Phillips joined the team to open the NY warehouse. The Albany location quickly gained many loyal customers and a strong presence in the East. Driven by excellent customer service with a personal touch, the Albany branch built a solid foundation on which we are still growing.
In 2002, Lindemann Chimney Supply opened a warehouse in Marietta, Georgia. An old friend, Jeff Wiles, joined the team for new venture. This location, just north of Atlanta expanded our next day distribution territory to grow to 29 states contributing greatly to our national presence among potential customers.
Today Lindemann Chimney Supply employs the most talented individuals in the industry. Our unique level of service, industry knowledge and premium products intern attract the industries top professionals as customers.
